Gold River is a census designated place in Sacramento County, California with a population of 7,912 on 2.64 square miles. The Gold River Community Association oversees the 25 villages that make up the planned community. Rancho Cordova is a city in the same county with a population of 66,997 on 33.51 square miles. It was incorporated in 2003, but has been a community in some form since 1855.
